Recommendations of what to place in a diet change over time, but the HCG allowed food has been in existence for over forty years. This form of diet is greatly advocated for because of its ability to fasten the rate of weight loss. However, a doctor supervision is required along with the diet plan due to its low content on calories.

The HCG hormone is quite familiar to pregnant women and it is sometimes recommended to women who wish to get pregnant but find it difficult. In addition, the hormone is also taken in by people wishing to lose weight since it cuts on the fats excess in the body and results in low appetite. The hormones which should have a minimum of five hundred calories can be taken in through a pill or injection or intake of certain foods.

First, lean proteins are the foods which have most calories in a diet and provide the body with the hormone. Some of the proteins in discussion include, lean red meat, white meat and poultry. A person is advised to take in seven ounces of protein daily. So as to avoid intake of any fat, one should remove any visible layers of fat before preparing the proteins.

The second form of foods recommended for anyone wanting to lose weight is vegetables with low calories, fruits and carbohydrates which is to be taken in over lunch or dinner. These vegetables include, tomatoes, celery, cucumbers, spinach and onions. As much as the quantities in that diet may be very minimal, these type of food add a great content of fiber and nutrients to that diet.

Thirdly, addition of food flavorings and certain kinds of drinks into the diet plan is also advisable. Examples of the seasonings that act as flavorings are salt, pepper, mustard powder, garlic and vinegar. In addition, the recommended drinks and beverages are water, tea and coffee which have to contain only one tablespoon of milk if need be and should have no sugar.

When under the diet, one is not allowed to consume any form of solid meal before lunch. Therefore, for breakfast, a person can only have tea or coffee that meet the standards set above. Lunch on the other hand, may contain a meal such as chicken breast that have been grilled along with vegetables like raw spinach and has to be around three and half ounces in size. Lastly, dinner should contain the same amount with varying proteins, carbohydrates, vegetables and fruits.

Due to lack of evidence to support the functionality of the hormone intake, some concerning issues have been raised regarding the same. In addition, the diet plan does not provide all the nutrients needed daily for all the body activities. More so, due to the low calories present in the meals, it means low energy levels in the body.

Some of the side effects to look out for when taking up this diet plan include ovarian cysts in women, breast enlargement in men and headaches. Anyone who is prone to heart or kidney diseases should not take the hormone. Due to these severe side effects likely to be experienced, a close supervision by a doctor is highly recommended during the dieting process.
