Important Information On Invisalign In Key Largo

By Kathleen Hughes

Generally, misaligned and crooked teeth are not only unsightly but can make cleaning your teeth difficult. As a result of poor hygiene on your teeth, you may eventually contract the periodontal disease. The periodontal disease risks bone and gum damage, and tooth loss. However, with orthodontic treatment, you can have your teeth perfectly aligned. Orthodontists use invisalign in Key Largo to straighten your misaligned teeth.

In order to properly align your misaligned teeth, your orthodontist may recommend wearing teeth braces. However, the traditional braces are often unattractive, uncomfortable, and may also be painful wearing them. At the same time, adults may feel embarrassed wearing the metal braces. However, invisalign are a great alternative. This is because they are invisible aligners made of thermoplastic material. They are also specifically designed for the specific person undergoing the treatment.

At the time of treatment, a patient could be given a number of aligners made just for them. Each set of the aligners causes a small change to the teeth positioning. These alignments make the teeth move progressively from their preceding positions closer to the desired position. The period of treatment, however, is dependent on the severity of the condition and is in most cases decided on by the doctor. However, for adults, it takes approximately 12 months.

One of the main advantages of using the invisalign is that they are comfortable and convenient. They cause no irritation to the mouth and gum as it is for other teeth alignment techniques. Nonetheless, they are not just smooth and comfortable when put on, but are also removable. For this reason, one can carry on with their normal doings like flossing or even brushing and can eat what they prefer. This is not the same with other alignment methods that makes flossing and brushing take as long as 30 minutes.

Another benefit of invisalign is their appearance. Usually, metal braces cause unattractive appearance in your mouth, as if your mouth is fitted with clumsy chunks of unsightly metals. The metal braces are also highly noticeable, and food may be stuck in them even without your knowledge. However, clear braces are barely noticeable, and you appear as though you are not wearing the braces at all.

Invisaligns are also safer than the traditional braces. The traditional metal braces have metal wire and bits than can scrape and wound the gums as well as the inside of the mouth. However, with the modern braces, one has no reason to worry about wounds because they have not sharp ends or bits. Traditional braces may also result to tooth decay and bring about a demineralization. The clear brace, however, is free of such damages that are often brought about by metallic braces.

The period of treatment is also reduced significantly with the new braces. This is since the clear braces take around 1 year while the metallic braces take 2 years.

Once the treatment is done, the dentist can advise on whether to use retainers or not. This is important because it prevents the teeth from gradually moving back to the previous state.
